Spelled chaff

What is that?

The spelled husk is the shell that remains from the husking or decortication of the spelled grain.

After processing, the chaff remains intact and empty inside, forming tiny pads that allow excellent transpiration upon contact.

There are 3 Triticum varieties:
N
Small or monococcus spelled
N
Medium or diced spelled
N
Large or spelled spelled.
The variety used for our products is exclusively that of Triticum Dicoccum.
From this variety of spelled a “softer”, lighter and less “noisy” chaff is obtained (unlike Triticum Spelta, which often comes from abroad and which has a very leathery skin, rougher, pointed and noisy), therefore more suitable for stuffing pillows and mattresses.

Before being inserted into the pillows, it is dusted and subjected to cryogenic treatment, a sterilization treatment at very low temperatures and without the use of chemicals, which, thanks also to the natural composition of the chaff, prevents the formation of mites making it suitable for those who suffer from allergies.

Who is the spelled husk for?
This type of material is particularly appreciated by physiotherapists and wellness centers, for massages and yoga.
The massaging effect has a favorable effect on the spine and muscles and is particularly useful for muscle contractions, neck pain, headache, rheumatic pain, sinusitis, menstrual pain and inflammation.

To appreciate its benefits, simply place the pillow directly on the area to be treated, in contact with the body.

It is also increasingly recommended by midwives to expectant mothers.

The use of spelled husks

Hot use

The cushions can be heated at a low temperature on the radiator or near a heat source. Being dry, the spelled husk releases the heat very slowly. Do not heat the spelled husk to high temperatures, its properties are activated already at 36 degrees.

Maintenance

Spelled pillows are regularly shaken and aired in the sun and maintain their beneficial effects for 5-7 years. The cotton covers can be washed, the spelled husks cannot be washed. The pillow is not subject to the formation of mites due to the composition of the chaff itself.

Cold use

Place the pillow in the freezer for at least 2 hours, taking care to protect it inside a plastic bag to prevent the fabric from getting wet. Use it where cold treatment is required.

Aromatherapy

The warm spelled husk is wonderfully associated with the virtues of aromatherapy.
Use: place the chosen essential oil on the previously heated pillow.
